Welcome to Spinning Babies!
A new way to prepare for birth...

Katie is delighted that her baby is now in an ideal starting position for labor!

Spinning Babies is unique for the step-by-step approach to the topic of Optimal Fetal Positioning. These techniques are found around the world, but "what to do when" is found right here. Labor can be shorter--and less painful!

The 3 Principles of Spinning Babies are as easy as steps 1, 2, and 3!

1. Relaxation
2. Gravity
3. Movement

Most of the time, labor contractions with vertical birthing positions help the baby's job of fetal rotation. Sometimes the position of the baby’s head makes rotation more difficult. Here, you will find out about normal and natural childbirth, posterior and breech presentations, and how to help babies rotate themselves into the more ideal fetal position, the occiput anterior.

Make the birth process easier with fetal and maternal positioning, pregnancy and birth techniques, midwifery and doula care.

My midwife's Daughter.... Print

Hannah with her bikeHannah had a dream to to bring sponsors to needy children. She began to connect families to 100 children. She learned bringing water to dry villages would allow vegetables and crops where there was only dust. Animals could be raised. An entire village could prosper. Hannah with her kitten

Hannah initiated about 24 sponsorships before her unexpected death. Now that Hannah's gone, her parents, Sylvia and Jim, carry on her dream.

Visit Hannah's website and see the amazing gift of this 13-year old, child visionary.

Join us as we mark the one-year anniversary of Hannah's death, September 13, 2008, with a Bike-a-thon in Minnesota. You can ride, too. It's family friendly!

Please sponsor Gail on this ride! Go right to FirstGiving.org/Hannahshundreds website to offer a secure donation to World Vision, put Hannah's Hundreds in the memo line. If you would like this to be a sponsorship for Gail, or another bike rider, just note their name and "bike-a-thon" in the email message you will be prompted to leave. Dig a World Vision well in Hannah's name! Thank you for helping children and helping lift a mother and father's grief. Your contact means a lot.

Getting started

Finding what you need on the Spinning Babies Website

(These links are faster than the left and top menu links.)

General information that you can use to fit your needs is found in The 3 Principles.

If you are already in labor, click on During Birth. For activities in each phase and stage of labor click Labor Progress.

There is a list of activities, What To Do, for pregnant women in the section called In Pregnancy.

Check out Belly Mapping during your last trimester of pregnancy or early labor. Or, start with the concepts and Techniques as soon as 10 weeks gestation and before.

You don't have to have a breech or posterior baby to do most of the recommended activities.

You can ask your midwife or doctor if there is any  medical  reason not to do a particular technique.

Website update

Spinning Babies is going through major renovations. The website is being updated with Joomla! 1.5.3 shareware.

One problem.  If, after clicking on a menu item, you get text with no template (color headings and banner) simply fix the page by taking out a portion of the address in your address bar:

Delete the first "index.php/" in the address and click return. Ta-da!

Gail's on a steep learning curve. Please be patient!
