Description
This course introduces birth professionals to Salutophysiology, a health-oriented model of pregnancy and birth care that deepens the Spinning BabiesĀ® approach by focusing on the nervous system, physiology, and the connection between internal and external conditions in pregnancy and birth.
Through eight live sessions and one pre-recorded session led by international midwife and Spinning BabiesĀ® Approved Trainer Anna Maria Rossetti, participants explore how the autonomic nervous system, environment, and emotional safety influence pregnancy, labor, and postpartum outcomes. The program integrates therapeutic presence, empathic communication, and trauma-informed clinical behaviors with physiological birth support, equipping professionals with practical tools to reduce birth trauma and challenge obstetric violence in modern maternity care.
Topics follow the physiology of pregnancy and birth step by step, including the first 1000 days, vagal shift in the second trimester, cortisol and readiness for birth, post-term fetal positioning, myths about big babies, Internal Fetal Rotation (IFR), and pelvic floor neurophysiology, alongside video demonstrations of manual treatments.
Over these nine months, participants learn within an international cohort of birth professionals committed to creating safer, more respectful birth experiences and strengthening a salutogenic culture of pregnancy and childbirth care.
After this course, professionals will be able to:
- Relearn physiology through a neuroscientific, salutogenic approach
- Shift the care paradigm from fear to trust
- Recognise the inner competences of mothers, parents, fathers, and babies from early pregnancy
- Understand how nervous systems interact with the uterus and the environment
- Strengthen inclusive, respectful communication; examine prejudices and motivation; support reproductive choices
- Strengthen the comprehension and motivation of people on the necessity of the paradigm shift
- Understand how salutophysiology and Spinning BabiesĀ® together can help create a renaissance of midwifery
“Salutophysiology in Pregnancy and Birth: From Risk-Focused to Health-Oriented Care” is a collaboration between Spinning BabiesĀ® and SEAO
