Welcome to Breech for Pregnant Parents, an online course providing guidance, practical at-home steps, and resources for parents and support people. We dive into the physical and emotional layers of this topic and cover tangible things that can be done for self care, body care, and nuances in decision making regarding External Cephalic Versions (ECVs) and birth.
Join Spinning BabiesĀ® Approved Trainer Nicole Morales and Spinning BabiesĀ® Aware Practitioner Jamie Mossay for videos, audio recordings, downloadable content, demonstrations and illustrations. Included are printable guided journals for parents and support people to use throughout the course. This course is recommended for those presenting breech in the third trimester of pregnancy.
For birthworkers, this course is required before taking Breech for Practitioners.
Learning Objectives:
- Define the different kinds of breech presentation and the historical context for caring for those pregnant with breech positioned babies.
- Explain possible reasons for breech presentation and how they can influence space available for a baby.
- Demonstrate safe and effective practices and balances that may be helpful for restoring space available for a breech-positioned baby while honoring the inner journey of self-discovery.
- Explain ways to stay connected to one’s’ self, baby, and support people when preparing for, experiencing, or integrating an External Cephalic Version procedure, a cesarean birth, and/or a vaginal breech birth.
About the Instructors:
Nicole Morales: LM, CPM, Spinning Babies®Approved Trainer
Nicole has a homebirth midwifery practice in San Diego, CA and co-author of The Breech Release.Ā Nicole develops and teaches the Spinning BabiesĀ® Breech Basics and Resolving Shoulder Dystocia. She was a midwifery faculty member of Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery. Nicole gave birth to her third daughter breech, which led her to her passion for breech birth and breech body balancing. Additionally, Nicole teaches Spinning BabiesĀ®Workshops, Breech Body Balancing, and Birthing from WithinĀ®Workshops, and offers a Storytelling, Healing, and the Birthworkerās Journey workshop.
Jamie Mossay: CMT, CF/CBE(BFW), she/her/hers
Jamie has been serving the San Diego community as a massage therapist/bodyworker for 20 years and started attending births as a doula in 2009. A mother, Birth Story ListenerĀ®, and co-author of The Breech Release. Along with being a Certified Birthing From WithinĀ® Mentor and Facilitator, Jamie has studied, practiced, and taught numerous modalities working primarily with pregnant, laboring, and postpartum people and their families. The Spinning BabiesĀ® approach to birth, by helping restore awareness of space and freedom in the body, is the cornerstone of her embodied birth practice. Jamie is an anatomy illustrator and her pictures are highlighted in her work as a Spinning BabiesĀ® Aware Practitioner and Instructor.
