Ibukun (Ibbie) Afolabi is an Integrative Pelvic and Perinatal Physiotherapist with a passion for women’s pelvic health and all things childbirth. She has been a registered physiotherapist since 2007 and has focused on pelvic and perinatal health since 2012 through her practice, The Mama’s Physio. Ibbie is also a certified childbirth educator and certified birth/postpartum doula. Her practice is located in London, Ontario and she offers in person or virtual care to women from across Ontario.
Ibukun works with women prenatally to optimize their pregnancy, find pain-free movement, address pelvic health concerns, prepare for an easeful birth, and discover joy within their bodies.
Through bodywork, she helps balance the body for pregnancy and birth, invites spaciousness into the maternal pelvis, and offers more options for baby to orient in utero. Ibukun journeys with women during their labour process and trusts the brilliant blueprint embedded within physiological birth. And after childbirth, she helps women to feel at home in their bodies once again. She empowers her clients with tools and education to support themselves on their journey.
The foundation to Ibukun’s work is trauma-informed, biopsychosocial, holistic, and salutogenic. She deeply believes in a human approach to childbirth and in the powers of the mind and body to transform the experience of pregnancy, birth, postpartum and beyond. She would be honoured to serve you during this season.
Ibukun’s most important vocation is ‘mama’. She is a highly blessed mama to five beautiful children, all whom she birthed at home. They keep her hands and heart full.
