Welcome to Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator Training
As a Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator, you’ll be ready to teach Spinning Babies® Birth Preparation Classes; educating families on physiological birth and the relevance of fetal positioning in pregnancy and birth. Support expectant parents in your communities to navigate pregnancy with greater confidence and more ease.
Prerequisite: Spinning Babies® Foundational Workshop.
- Become a Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator and gain unparalleled expertise in childbirth education.
- Earn 26 Continuing Education (CE) credits through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Meet Your Instructors
Joyce Hoek-Pula
Joyce Hoek-Pula is an experienced and seasoned doula and masseuse.
She teaches doulas since 2015 and is co-owner of BiA Doula Training. She has also practises as a yoga teacher, pregnancy yoga teacher and yoga teacher trainer for 14 years.
Joyce was amongst the first doulas to attend Gail’s workshop in The Netherlands. Applying Spinning Babies® core principles in the birth space has been a revelatory add on to how she can be of help to her clients. Becoming a Spinning Babies® Parent Educator in 2018 made so much sense, and now Joyce teaches the Spinning Babies Parent Class to expecting parents in Amsterdam, including her doula clients.
Marlies Phielix
Marlies Phielix is a mother of three grown up, beautiful human beings, living in the Netherlands. She is a full-time and an experienced birth doula (2011), pregnancy and- postpartum masseuse, a Systemic Ritual Practitioner® and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner®. She is a Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator-Instructor, a Doula Trainer and co- owner at BiA Doula Training. For 6 years she was a board member at the Dutch Professional Association for Doulas.
She has a special interest in traditional birth practices and the evolution of human beings. She integrates modern scientific understanding with ancestral ways of relating to birth and the human experience as body, mind and spirit, making these insights practical and relevant today.
The very first Spinning Babies® workshop in the Netherlands taught by Gail (2014) played a big part in how her work as a doula and a trainer evolved over the years. Marlies is constantly furthering her education and she continues to learn and grow as a person and a birth professional.
An All-Inclusive Training Experience
Your registration includes five nights at Hotel Pichlmayrgut, May 17–22, including an extra night after training ends so you can depart the following day with no additional lodging cost.
Dinner is included on arrival day, May 17. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and coffee breaks are included on all four training days, May 18–21.

In Europe, equity is not defined only by U.S. racial categories like BIPOC. Our equity support is intended for birth workers from communities that face structural barriers and disparities in maternity care in their local context.
This may include (but is not limited to):

- Racialized and ethnically marginalized Europeans
- Practitioners serving communities with documented inequities in access, safety, or outcomes
You will receive a link to apply for the Equity Seat in your Application Acceptance email. You do not have to pay to apply. The deadline to submit your Equity Seat application is November 19, 2024. After reviewing the applications, an email will be sent to all applicants with the results no later than November 26, 2024.
If you are selected as the Equity Seat recipient, you will have one week to verify your acceptance before the next recipient is chosen.

- Training will run from approximately 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM each day.

Departure Day: Saturday, May 22, 2027
- Check out by 10:00 AM.
A detailed training agenda will be provided to registered participants closer to the event.
- If you cancel before December 1, 2026, the cancellation fee is $200.
- If you cancel between December 1, 2026 and February 1, 2027, the cancellation fee is $400.
- No refunds will be offered after February 2, 2027.

General Certified Parent Educator FAQ's
Yes. Participants can earn 25 Continuing Education (CE) credits through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Yes. Enrollment in the Certified Parent Educator Advanced Training gives you up to one year to teach your provisional classes and complete the certification process.
Your first year’s licensing fee, beginning when you become certified, is included.
To remain certified, continue using the SpBCPE badge and teach the Spinning Babies® Birth Preparation Class after the first year, an annual licensing fee of $195 will be automatically charged to the credit card you provide.
Some Certified Parent Educator Trainings include meals and/or accommodation, depending on the location and venue.
When included, full details will be listed in the accommodation and registration sections of your specific training page.

Applicants must:
- Complete a Spinning Babies® one- or two-day Foundational Workshop before attending the Certified Parent Educator Training.
- Complete the Certified Parent Educator Training application.
- Upload the documents required to demonstrate their eligibility.
- Complete registration and payment after their application is accepted.
The programme is open to:
- Certified childbirth educators
- Registered prenatal yoga instructors with at least 200 hours of training
- Non-certified childbirth educators who have taught five or more group childbirth education classes
What to Wear:
Comfortable clothing suitable for floor activities, such as sweats, leggings, yoga pants, loose clothing, or a long skirt.
What to Bring:
- Pelvis model and baby (available for purchase here)

Note: Storage space will be provided for personal items during the event.
Yes. During the application process, you will be asked to upload:
- Proof of your experience as a childbirth educator or prenatal yoga instructor
- Attendance verification for your Spinning Babies® Foundational Workshop
- The name of your workshop Instructor
- The date and location of your workshop
After completing the in-person training, you will become a Spinning Babies® Provisional Parent Educator.
To complete certification, you will be required to:
- Teach three Spinning Babies® Birth Preparation Classes
- Submit the required parent evaluations
- Complete the certification requirements within the permitted timeframe
You will also receive continued support through Zoom meetings, newsletters, promotional resources and access to the private attendee Facebook group.
- Receive your acceptance email: Once your application is reviewed and accepted, you will receive an email with instructions and a link to complete registration.
- Complete registration: Follow the instructions in your acceptance email to select your room option (if applicable), complete payment and secure your place.
Submitting an application does not reserve a place. Your seat is confirmed only after your application has been accepted and registration is complete.
Prepare your documents
Before beginning your application, gather:
- Proof of your experience as a childbirth educator or prenatal yoga instructor
- Your certification document, where applicable
- Attendance verification for your Spinning Babies® Foundational Workshop
- The Instructor’s name, date and location of the workshop
- A summary of your teaching experience if you are not currently certified
Your teaching summary should include your experience teaching childbirth education classes, the length of time you have taught, the topics covered and any other relevant background information.
