Natatia Peterson is a distinguished professional and lifelong resident of Stark County who has achieved significant milestones in her career. In January 2024, she completed her studies at the National Midwifery Institute and subsequently obtained certification as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) by October 2024, becoming the first African American CPM in Ohio. Her commitment to addressing healthcare disparities in African American and marginalized communities is evident in her role as the Founder and Owner of yourWOMBllc Holistic Midwifery and Doula Services. Furthermore, as the CEO and Founder of The Strive Collective, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering birth professionals and supporting families, Natatia is instrumental in driving transformative advancements in midwifery.
Holding a Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in Family and Consumer Sciences from the University of Akron, Natatia integrates her academic expertise with practical experience. With over eight years as a DONA-certified birth and postpartum doula, she has significantly contributed as a State of Ohio Certified Doula, providing vital support to expectant mothers and families. Her active role on the Ohio Doula Advisory Committee and the Alliance Family Health Centers Board of Directors and Strategic Planning Committee underscores her dedication to improving maternal health outcomes and expanding access to quality care.
Natatia’s professional affiliations with the Black Midwives Alliance and the Birth and Breastfeeding Leadership Institute highlight her commitment to advancing the fields of human lactation and midwifery. She holds an array of certifications, including Red Cross First Aid and CPR Instructor, Children’s Vision Screener, SOARS Works Representative, Fourth Trimester Fitness Instructor, Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, Prenatal Yoga Instructor, Certified Lactation Consultant, and Mental Health First Aid.
