
As a Certified Nurse-Midwife, Certified Lamaze Childbirth Educator, and Certified Doula, Venus has supported families for more than 25 years, personally attending over 1,000 births throughout her career.
She is the CEO and Director of The Doula Exchange, an agency that partners with insurance providers to expand access to doula services. She also collaborates with North Carolina Central University to help develop a culturally concordant maternal health workforce in rural counties and maternity care deserts across North Carolina.
Venus is published in peer-reviewed medical journals and is an international speaker on maternal health equity. She currently serves as President of the North Carolina Perinatal Association and is a board member of the American Association of Birth Centers.
Her work focuses on advancing equitable, patient-centered care, reducing disparities in maternal outcomes, and supporting the development of culturally responsive perinatal care systems. She brings both clinical expertise and real-world experience to her writing and presentations, influencing providers, health systems, and communities alike.
Venus promotes a physiological, patient-centered, hands-off approach to normal labor, grounded in equity and a deep commitment to culturally responsive care.
