Maureen Farrell is a Certified Professional Midwife, Certified Lactation Counselor, Certified Doula, and a Certified Family Herbalist. She owns and operates Highland Birth Support, a private practice in Elkins, WV which serves families during their childbearing year by providing holistic care and homebirth services.
In the Highland region of West Virginia, Maureen aims to support families by providing midwifery care, full-spectrum doula services, lactation support, childbirth education, herbal consultation, and now body balancing services using Spinning Babies® techniques. At Highland Birth Support Maureen works to help families make their own best choices by providing education and informed consent. For homebirth clients she maintains a safe, comfortable space while performing clinical assessments and ensuring the wellbeing of both parents and baby. For doula clients Maureen will accompany families to the hospital where she provides emotional support and help in communicating with other healthcare providers during labor. Maureen believes fiercely in autonomy in birth and works to protect that for her clients while they do the hard work of birthing their babies.
Maureen also currently works at Busy Moms Healthcare supporting families with lactation at their outpatient clinic in Morgantown, WV. She works to create a space where families feel supported in their choices and confident with breastfeeding. Maureen also co-hosts TWO podcasts to help people around the world improve their pregnancy and lactation experiences: The Milk Minute Podcast and Beyond the Boob.
