Shekita Long is a Detroit-based Birth & Labor Doula, Community Health Worker, yoga teacher, mindfulness educator, and Spinning Babies® Certified Birth Professional with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals and families through healing, transformation, and birth.
Her work blends evidence-based birth education with ancestral wisdom, body awareness, mindfulness, movement, and culturally rooted care. She specializes in helping families prepare for labor through balance, alignment, comfort measures, and nervous system support while creating spaces where birthing people feel informed, seen, and empowered.
Shekita is the Director of Community Outreach for The Lunar Doula Collective and founder of the Detroit Black Birth Archive, a maternal health and cultural preservation initiative focused on documenting and honoring Black birth stories in Detroit.
Known for her calming presence and community-centered approach, Shekita integrates Spinning Babies® principles into prenatal preparation, labor support, and childbirth education to help create more ease, comfort, and confidence throughout the birth journey.
